Product Review: Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment

Happy Wednesday!  Today I'm going to be reviewing one of the products I chose for my July Beauty Army Box.  When I saw other people were choosing this product I hoped it would come up in my selection options so that I could try it out, and it did!

What They Say:  Our Healing Oil Treatment is a therapeutic hair oil perfect for all hair types and is especially beneficial to dry, damaged hair.

  • Intense nourishment for tangle & frizz free hair
  • Hair that is ultra-smooth, manageable & shiny
  • Natural UV protection extends the life of color treatments
  • Reduced drying time by an amazing 40-50%
My Impression:  The bottle is adorable!  I love the colors and the design on this little bottle, so cute!  This stuff also smells amazing!  The bottle you see above is actually a full size product that retails for $13.50- that's more than I paid for my entire Beauty Army Box!  The bottle is only 1 oz and while that seems small just like most oil treatments a little of this stuff goes a long way!

I put a small drop of the oil in the palm of my hand after I get out of the shower and rub my hands together and then apply the product to towel dried hair.  It definitely does seem to cut down on drying time and it makes my hair feel so smooth!  It also helps to tame those annoying little fly-aways that I get sometimes after blow drying my hair.

You can pick up this product at Macadamia's website here.  You can get them in four different sizes ranging from a petite .34 oz bottle to a massive salon size 10 oz bottle.  The prices are reasonable as well.  I took a look at their website and they have some other neat products such as a complete hair care line to a style line and even accessories.  I am definitely interested in trying some of their other products.

The BeautyArmy box was purchased by me with my own money.  I am not affiliated with BeautyArmy or Macadamia.  I am not being paid for my reviews and all opinions are my own personal opinions.

Product Review: Kérastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal Shampoo, Conditioner & Lumiere Liquide

Happy Wednesday!  Today I'm bringing you a review of some products I received in my May Birchbox, Kérastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal Shampoo, Conditioner & Lumiere Liquide.

The reason I'm doing the three together is because they are related so it only makes sense (at least to me) to do them together.  Now, I must admit I was a little put off to see packets in my Birchbox.  I'm not a fan of packets because I don't believe that they provide enough product to actually test.  I got about two uses out of the shampoo, three or four out of the conditioner and a few more out of the Lumiere Liquide.  They lasted longer than I thought but my hair is pretty short so it doesn't take a lot of product.

Here's what Birchbox has to say about these products:

Kérastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal - Fine (Shampoo)-  Even if you don’t have naturally thick hair, you can still get bouncy, voluminous locks. Kerastase’s high-foaming shampoo is designed specifically for ladies with long, fine hair. In the shower, it turns into a mousse-like lather thanks to an infusion of oxygen and pumps volume into even the wispiest of strands. The result? Flowing tresses with plenty of shine.

How it Works- Long, fine hair needs products especially designed to meet its needs. While conventional shampoos tend to weigh hair down with their heavy formulas, this light, paraben-free formula adds incredible body and movement. An oil-solubilization system removes dirt and impurities from your roots, while conditioning agents smooth and polish each strand. An infusion of aloe vera tames frizz and adds silkiness.

How to Use- Wet your hair, and massage a quarter-size amount into your roots. Work into a rich lather, and rinse away.

Price- $36.00 for 250ml

Kérastase Lait Cristal Conditioner- The hair-centric among us have one burning question for Blake Lively: how does she get those gorgeous waves? Though our curiosity may never be fully satisfied, we can all get better hair with this shine-enhancing conditioner, which was inspired by the “Gossip Girl” star. Specially designed for long hair, it detangles knots, repairs damage, and glossifies each strand. Next up: show-stealing locks worthy of a red carpet premiere.

How it Works- Whether you have a thick mane or long, fine locks, this unique conditioner will give you tremendous volume and softness. The secret lies in the triple-threat formula. Liquid light reflectors deliver mega-watt shine, while eco-friendly polymers restore brittle, uneven follicles on a microscopic level. Vitamin-rich aloe vera hydrates hair without weighing it down, giving you the silky texture you crave.

How to Use- After shampooing, squeeze excess water out of hair, and work a quarter-size amount through your lengths and ends. Leave in for up to three minutes, and rinse away with warm water.

Price- $39.00 200 ml

Kérastase Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide

Ever since we watched the first season of “Gossip Girl,” we’ve been huge fans of Blake Lively’s flowing waves. So we were excited to learn that the blonde actress was the inspiration behind Kérastase’s new serum. Specially designed for long hair, the leave-in treatment adds a high-definition shine while sealing each cuticle (bye bye, split ends). Plus, the light, gorgeously scented formula won’t weigh down your strands.

How it Works- This luxe serum is made with sophisticated light reflectors to add mega-gloss and shine while smoothing away frizz. A generous amount of aloe vera—high in natural amino acids and vitamins—softens and restores dry, brittle ends (the number one problem for girls with long locks).

How to Use- Smooth a quarter-size amount through damp or dry hair, avoiding the roots and concentrating on your lengths and ends.

Price- $42.00 for 50ml

My Impression:  I thought all three products smelled amazing.  The smell reminded me of lilacs and I love the smell of lilacs. The shampoo and conditioner did leave my hair feeling nice and soft and did allow for a little extra volume.  Overall, if the shampoo and conditioner were not so pricey I might get them- it would set you back $75.00 for just shampoo and conditioner.  Now, I wasn't a fan of the Lumiere Liquide.  It smelled very nice, however I don't really think it did anything for my hair.

Overall, I would recommend the shampoo and conditioner if you don't mind spending that much money on them however I don't think I would recommend the Lumiere Liquide.

 Did you get to try these products this month?  What did you think?

Product Review: Orofluido Beauty Elixr

Today I am pleased to bring you a review of the Orofluido Beauty Elixr which was included in my April Look Bag.  The sample I received was 0.17 fl oz.  I cant seem to find the actual size for the full size product anywhere so I'm not sure how big the full size product is.

Product Details:

Beauty elixir for all hair types, with a pure luxuriance that envelops your hair. Three organic natural oils in an exquisite mixture with a pleasant, silky texture, absorbed rapidly and leaving no residue in the hair.  Its delicious amber fragrance with a vanilla foundation will transport you into a fascinating world of oriental perfume. Applied to damp hair it:
  • Reduces drying time;
  • Leaves hair light, silky and easy to comb;
  • Gives hair body and movement;
  • Enhances the natural shine of the hair.
Applied to dry hair it:
  • Gives hair instant shine;
  • Controls frizzing and makes combing easier.
Source.

My Initial Impression:  I have tried many hair oils in the past with no success.  My hair has an interesting texture, it is frizzy but also can become very fine and oily at times as well.  So I was very hesitant to try another hair oil for fear of having that slick oily look to my hair.  I decided to give it a try on a  weekend so if it didn't turn out well I didn't need to show myself in public.  I applied it to my damp hair immediately after getting out of the shower and brushed my wet hair with the product still in.  I then proceeded with my normal morning routine of letting my hair air dry a bit while applying my makeup.

Pros:
  • Has a nice subtle smell to it;
  • Not overly oily like some hair oils;
  • Doesn't leave your hands oily after applying the product;
  • It DOES actually cut down on drying time;
  • A little goes a long way so this product could definitely last a long time;
  • It made my hair incredibly silky, smooth and shiny but NOT oily at all!;
  • It didn't weight my fine hair down so I still got the body I was looking for along with the smoothness and shine.
Cons:
  • I honestly couldn't find any.
Final Impression:  I was really prepared not to like this product but I was pleasantly surprised and it ended up being my absolute favorite product out of all three sample programs this month.  I love the way it makes my hair look and feel and when I do run out I will definitely be purchasing more and incorporating it into my every day routine.  The best part is that I think this product is pretty reasonably priced.  You can get the full sized product from The Look Store for $39.98 for non-members and $31.98 for members.  I think that's a pretty good price considering how little of the product you have to use.  I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for something to smooth your hair while not weighing it down or making it look greasy.
